CHALLENGE COIN

The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association challenge coin was introduced in 2005, and has become a popular collectors items among Law Enforcement Officers, and coin collectors alike. The front of the coin displays the WLEOA Logo, and the back side is etched with Saint Michael, "Patron saint of Law Enforcement."

This is how a challenge coin is used:

During World War II, and even dating back to Roman times, the practice of carrying a specially designed unit coin became very popular because it saved lives by becoming a means of identification.

Today, carrying the coin at "all times" and presenting it when challenged results in a number of consequences for those who cannot produce their coin. Such as having to pay for the coffee, soda, or other small item.

"Coin Checks" are permitted anytime and anyplace. If challenged, you must produce your coin. If you produce your coin, the challenger must pay for the coffee Etc. If you are unable to produce your coin, you must buy the challenger the coffee.

In some instances, failure to respond to a challenge may result in the loss of your coin, or you may be asked to return the coin to the issuing agency. You make the rules before hand.
